Havannah's death came suddenly. No one was expecting it. She was fine one day, sick the next then she died. I had the opportunity to ride her once before she passed. She was a beautiful black warmblood with white socks and a white stripe on her face. She was a headstrong horse definitely an alpha… Continue reading In Memory of Havannah

Road Ride
Today I'll be joining the officers of the TTPS Mounted Branch on a road ride. I'm super excited about it because it will be my first. I hope the weather stays good and all horses behave. I'm not sure where we will be going but I will update as soon as possible afterwards.
Back in the Saddle
As many of you know my riding takes place at the Police Mounted Branch. This means that when there are national events that the horses need to attend my riding has to go on break. We celebrated Independence on the 31st of August so there was no riding for about 6 weeks (which felt like forever).… Continue reading Back in the Saddle

Riding Diary 22/04/2016
The horses that came out to ride were Hassan, Heinrich, Hidlago, Honesta and Marac. I was on Honesta. Overall we had a very good ride!
Riding Diary 19/02/2016
There were 6 horses out for this ride. Honesta, Hannah, Hiadlgo, Hannibal, Harry and Flame. This was our first ride after the Carnival season. In a previous post I mentioned I would be riding either Honesta or Marac. Well Marac went on a patrol so I rode Honesta. We started the class at the walk… Continue reading Riding Diary 19/02/2016

Got to class early, went to saddle Harmony and got a surprise It Is Alleged (yes that's his name) was out of his stall eating grass like nobody's business. We warmed up the horses by walking to let them stretch out then started to trot. At the trot something felt odd and my instructor noticed… Continue reading Riding Diary 29/01/2016
It’s Been Forever
I haven't been in the saddle for two weeks but it feels like forever. I'm excited to see what adventures await me at class today. I won't be riding Harmony though. Maybe I'll ride Marac or Honesta. We'll see how it goes :). And here are two good-looking horses for your viewing pleasure.
Riding Diary 23/01/2015
Eight people came out to ride on Friday. It was the largest class we've had for a while. The horses we used were Hannah, Harmony, Hassan, Honesta, Hailey, Hidalgo, Harry and Havannah. We started off walking to warm up the horses. At the walk we did the exercise circle to take the rear of the… Continue reading Riding Diary 23/01/2015
Riding Week After a Short Break
I was involved in different sports since I was young so sore muscles have been the norm for as long as I can remember. Now I do horseback riding but only once a week. When we came back from Christmas break I expected lots of pain after the first ride. This is how my week went. Friday: Riding… Continue reading Riding Week After a Short Break
In Memory of Fiona
Fiona was a petite, dark bay quarter horse from Canada. Her legs were the shortest of all the horses so she had to take double the number of steps that the bigger horses would. When I met Fiona she had a pretty deep sink in her back which got worse as she grew older. She… Continue reading In Memory of Fiona
Hyper: The Horse That Stepped on My Foot
The horse I used yesterday was Hyper. He's quite a sweetheart and likes a little love up here and there... but then again, who doesn't? Hyper was busy eating when I went to saddle him up. I don't think he was very pleased to be taken from his dinner. After saddling Hyper and I went… Continue reading Hyper: The Horse That Stepped on My Foot
Horseback Riding and Me
I recently completed a basic horseback riding course at the Police Mounted Branch. It was a lovely experience! I got to meet and interact with 23 horses which all have different personalities. We began riding in the yard near the stables on quarter horses which are the smaller horses. My horse was Fannon, a 25… Continue reading Horseback Riding and Me
